Simplicate has a Public API that allows you to expose certain information and functionalities in Simplicate to other platforms. Conversely, the same applies in reverse. Simplicate also allows other APIs, enabling integrations with systems such as Yuki, Exact Online, Twinfield, or Payt.

In this article, you’ll learn how to create an API key in Simplicate so you can integrate Simplicate with other platforms. An API key is always directly linked to a Simplicate user. The permissions that the user has in Simplicate will correspond to the permissions the user has in Simplicate’s API:

If the user does not have access to the HRM module in Simplicate, they will also not have access to the API calls for HRM.

Creating an API Key

Go to Settings > API to view an overview of all API keys that have been created in Simplicate. Here you’ll find both active and expired API keys:

By clicking the green 'New' button in the top right corner, you can create a new API key for a user in Simplicate. You’ll also select the desired expiration date for the API key at this point. You can request an API key for yourself or for another Simplicate user:

When creating the API key, you also specify whether you want to enable it for use by the Simplicate MCP.

Note: Once the expiration date of an API key is reached, the API key will no longer be valid. Be sure to note the expiration date somewhere so that you can request a new API key for the user in time.

It is not possible to change the expiration date of an existing API key.

Deleting an API key

In this same screen, you can also delete an API key. You do this by clicking the red cross on the right side. The cross will appear when your cursor hovers over the row of the API key:
