Insights: Hours per project – Productivity

Where your productive hours land: distributed across projects, services and hour types.

Written by Simplicate Support

The Productivity report shows where your productive hours land: on which projects, under which services and in which hour types. Productive hours are direct hours: hours logged on client projects where the project setting Invoice project is set to Yes. Where productivity per employee answers the question "is someone meeting their target?", this report is about where that productive time goes.

Report structure

At the top is the group's filter bar; below it the KPI Productive hours, the charts Productive hours in period, per default service and per hour type, and the Detail view (the table).

Productive hours in period

Tracks the productive hours over time. If you choose a longer period, you can see whether productive spend is increasing, decreasing, or moving in a fixed rhythm — around holidays or a project delivery, for example.

Productive hours per default service

Shows which services your productive hours fall under, so you can see which part of your service offering demands the most direct time. Click a service to update the other charts, so you can see the distribution within that service.

Productive hours per hour type

Breaks the productive hours down by hour type, so you can see exactly what kind of work that direct time is — advisory, development, additional work. Together with the distribution per service, this shows whether your productive time is going into the work you want to deliver.

Detail view

Where the charts show aggregated data, the Detail view gives you the productive hours row by row: by date, client, project, service and hour type. Use Columns to choose which columns are visible and use Export to download the data for further analysis.

  • Hours per hour type — This report provides insight into the distribution of all logged hours, both productive and unproductive.

  • Result per hour type — Provides insight into the gross margin achieved on hours per hour type.
