Insights: Hours per project – Billability

Provides insight into the most billable Projects, in other words: the Relations you should be cautious with.

Written by Simplicate Support

The Billability report shows you which projects generate the most billable hours — which should align with the projects that are invoiced the most. By drilling down into a project, service, or hour type, you can see the trend in billable hours and how they are distributed across your work.

Some services are far more billable than others — advisory hours, for example, are highly billable while development hours are not. To keep your organisation healthy, you look for a good balance in that mix.

Report structure

At the top is the filter bar; below it, the KPI Total billable in period, the chart Development per month, the charts Distributed per project and per service, the charts Distributed per client and per hour type, and the Detail view (the table).

Development per month

Tracks the billable value per month. If you select a two-year period, you can see whether the selling value is increasing, decreasing, or fluctuating in a fixed cycle.

Total billable value in period, distributed per project

Shows which projects generate the most billable value. Click a project to update the other charts, so you can see the trend and distribution within that project.

Total billable value in period, distributed per service

Shows which services within your projects generate the most selling value. Click a service to update the other charts, so you can see the trends and totals per service.

Total billable value in period, distributed per client

Shows the billable value per client, giving you a different perspective on where your billable hours land. Zoom in on a large client to see which services are delivered there and which of those are the most billable.

Distributed per hour type

Shows which hour types your billable hours fall under, so you can see per hour type under which services and projects you primarily deliver them.

Detail view

The Detail view shows the figures per period and per project. Use Columns to choose which columns are visible, and use Export to download the data.
