In Simplicate, we offer three invoicing methods:

  • Fixed price

  • Actual costing

  • Subscriptions

The Pricing Table for Post-Calculation Services

When invoicing a service using the "Post-calculation" method, you have several options for how the service and its associated costs/hours are displayed on the invoice. These options, which are not available for fixed-price services and subscriptions, can be selected in two places:

  1. On the draft invoice: Go to the ‘Services’ tab, find an invoice line with the type ‘Hours’ or ‘Costs’, then click on ‘Actions’ on the right side of the line and select ‘Edit’.

  2. On the invoice template: Go to Settings > Invoices > Invoice Templates.

Select the invoice template you want to modify and go to the ‘Price Table’ tab.

Under the section ‘Preferred settings price table per invoicing method’, you can select several options for Post-calculation.

If it concerns hours, you can choose from the following five options:

  1. Total per service
Only shows the total amount for the service.

  2. Total per employee

Displays the total hours per employee registered on the service.

  3. Total per hour type
Displays the total hours per hour type registered on the service.

  4. Detailed including description
Shows the date, employee, and hour type per entry on the service. If a description was added to the entry, it will also be displayed.

  5. Detailed excluding description
Shows the date, employee, and hour type per entry on the service.

If it concerns costs, you can choose from the following four options:

  1. Total per service
Only shows the total amount for the service.

  2. Source/employee
Displays how or by whom the costs were registered.

  3. Total per cost type
Shows the total per cost type registered on the service.

  4. Detailed
Displays the date, cost type, and any description per entry on the service.

Additionally, it’s possible to add the logged hours and/or costs as an attachment to the invoice.

The Pricing Table for Fixed-Price Services Invoiced in Installments

Are you invoicing fixed-price services in one or more installments? Then you have two pricing table options:

  1. Total per service
Displays which services make up each installment.

  2. Total per installment
Only shows the totals per installment.

General Pricing Table Settings

In addition to the settings per invoicing method, there are several other options to customize the pricing table. You can set your preferences in an invoice template (Invoices > Invoice Templates > select a template > Pricing Table tab).

These options can also be adjusted per invoice. To do this, open a draft invoice and click the blue ‘More’ button, then select ‘Properties’.

Tip: Use the compact view for long descriptions

Do you use long descriptions on your invoices? If so, we recommend enabling the compact view. This setting ensures that long descriptions are displayed in a more condensed format, resulting in a cleaner and more professional-looking invoice. It is especially useful when descriptions take up a lot of space or make the invoice appear cluttered.

You can enable this option via:
Settings → Invoices → Invoice templates → Price table:
