Do you work with Jira and want to connect it with Simplicate to quickly and easily log your hours on Jira tickets? Follow the instructions below to learn how it works.
Simplicate browser extension
The Jira integration is powered by the Simplicate browser extension. If you haven’t set it up yet, check out the installation instructions in the following article: Installation Guide.
Connecting with Jira
In Simplicate, go to Settings > Add-ons, Integrations & Connections > Jira. Simply click Activate Jira Integration to enable the connection.
To connect Jira to the extension, open the extension and click the Jira icon in the top right corner. Then, enter your Jira domain in the extension.
When you are logged into your Jira environment in the browser, the connection will be established automatically. You will now see an additional field in the Hours tab of the extension to link a Jira issue.
Logging time
When logging hours, the time recorded in Simplicate will also be visible on the Jira issue under Worklog.
When logging time through the Jira plugin without a start time, Jira will take the moment of registration as the log time.
Note: The Jira integration is a one-way integration. Once hours are logged on a Jira issue via the extension, any changes made later through the agenda/timesheet will not be synchronized back to Jira.
Displaying the Issue Number on the Time Attachment of the Invoice
When using the Jira integration, it’s possible to display the issue number on the time attachment of the invoice. You can easily enable this on any invoice template of your choice. To do this, open the invoice template in the settings, go to the ‘Translation Labels’ tab, and enable the option ‘Add Jira issue number to the description’ under ‘Attachment Labels’.
The time attachments of future invoices will then be provided with the Jira issue number on which the time was logged.
Did you know…
If you have the detailed view of a Jira issue open and then open the browser extension, the Jira issue number will automatically be filled in for you in the extension? This allows you to quickly log time on a Jira issue.
