In 2025, the existing SBI codes will be renewed at the European level. Every company or organization has one or more SBI codes (Standard Business Classification). These are linked to the business activity description in the Dutch Trade Register and show what your company does.

Every 15 years, the codes are revised. This year it’s happening again: in the first weekend of September, the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KVK) will replace the current SBI codes in the Trade Register with new ones where necessary. The codes in Simplicate will also be updated automatically during this period.

What will change?

Some codes will be completely revised.

  • Previously, there were two separate codes for online sales and sales through physical stores. Starting in September, these will be merged into a single code, since many companies now combine online and offline sales.

  • New codes will also be introduced, such as one for “intermediaries and brokers” (including marketplaces and comparison websites).

  • SBI codes that currently consist of 4 digits will be expanded with a 5th digit.

Here you can find a link to a CBS document that explains all changes in detail.

What does this mean for CRM relations in your Simplicate environment?

  • We base the SBI codes of your CRM relations on the entered Chamber of Commerce (KVK) numbers. We retrieve the correct SBI codes for your relations from the KVK database.

  • This change in Simplicate will be implemented after the update at the KVK has been processed, once our KVK integration also has been updated.

For relations without a KVK number but with an SBI code, the following applies:

  • Relations with an SBI code that changes numbering will be assigned the new SBI code.

  • Relations with an SBI code that is merged with another SBI code will be assigned the new SBI code.

  • Relations with an SBI code that is split into multiple SBI codes will not be assigned a new code. We will communicate which SBI codes we could not immediately update to a new SBI code.

Our advice

We recommend checking the SBI codes in Simplicate after 7 September and making changes where necessary. We also advise you to verify in Mijn KVK whether the description of your activities and your SBI code(s) are still correct.
